Earth day is being celebrated every year on April 22nd since 1970 to promote planet's environmental awareness among people. This year on April 22, 2020, it is celebrating its 50th anniversary .  When And How To Educate Children About The Earth? Every day should be Earth day, but it is the best time to educate our children about the importance of protecting and caring about the planet. It is suggested to teach children about caring for the environment at an early age so that they can live in and contribute towards a healthy environment for the future generations to come. It can be done by involving children in practicing simple day-to-day actions such as recycling and making simple projects with recyclable and reusable items, using less paper, using water cautiously, switching off lights when not in use, connecting oneself with nature etc. Energy Saving Ideas In Our Home Activity-Focused on Collecting and Organizing Information Skill Charity begins at home, the activi

DIY Homeschool Cubby

For the past few weeks, we all parents are looking for the best resources, activities and projects for homeschooling our kids. Since the schools are closed due to the pandemic and we all are staying home for its prevention until how long nobody knows.

We are glad that now schools have started conducting online classes and children are really excited to meet their teachers and friends virtually. Salute to the teachers! who are taking every measure to create this journey a lot easy for all of us.

To create homeschooling environment, today I am sharing an easy DIY project that is made from recyclable materials and most of them are easily available at home. DIY Homeschool Cubby! One place for kids where they can keep their reading book of the day or week, stationary, a few plain papers, homework and assignments given by their teachers in the online class.

As a parent it is challenging to find constructive activities everyday, sometimes we have supplies and sometimes simply the time is not right because we have too much on our plate right now. Making small DIY projects with children and using most of the materials from home will not only keep them busy but it will allow them to brainstorm what else they can use to enhance their project. It will allow children to use their creative imagination and represent it by creating their own master piece.

Things You Need To Make DIY Homeschool Cubby!

Things Used:

Directions To Make DIY Homeschool Cubby!

Step 1: Cover the box with self-adhesive paper.

Step 2: Glue the book folder on top side of the box using glue gun. It can be used as an extra shelf to store papers or art projects.

Step 3: Glue the clothespin using glue gun on the side of the box to clip notes and reminders.

Find a place to keep your very own cubby and fill it with your necessary items.

Some days kids may want to write and clip their activity wish-list that they would like to do in the week. Writing the wish list will encourage the child's literacy skills. Assign a day on which they can do that special activity of their choice. Take part in that activity as a peer and spend some quality family time together.

We are Ready for Homeschool! Are you?

As an educator, I am always in a search for reusable materials. The recyclable materials can be found at home or ask the store if they have any in the backroom. I would suggest you to keep a bin where you can collect reusable items such as courier boxes, empty yogurt containers, tin cans, cereal boxes, shoe boxes, left over wrapping papers etc.

Share your DIY projects that you made with your children in these past few weeks while staying at home.
